Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
An important representative said the attack left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
