One of the co-founders behind the well-known ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has announced how parent company Unilever stopped the launch of an innovative Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, who co-founded the company alongside his partner, disclosed that he will personally create this new flavor as part of an individual series highlighting causes the company has been barred from speaking out about.

Longstanding Dispute Between Creators and Corporate Owner

The recent development escalates the continuing tension between the world-famous ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the UK-based packaged goods corporation which acquired Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

The co-founders maintain how the parent company and their ice cream division Magnum improperly prevented their company against "honouring its social mission".

Watermelon Sorbet becoming a Symbol of Solidarity

Mr. Cohen revealed through social media how he's developing an innovative watermelon-based frozen dessert, requesting public suggestions regarding the product's name and potential ingredients.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” the founder commented in a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

The watermelon has become a symbol for support for Palestinians because of its coloration, which closely resemble those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement plus Current Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in areas occupied by Israel, resulting in the parent company transferring their Israel business to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing continued sales within the occupied West Bank.

The new product line will be created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the activist dessert company that was first established several years back to support ex- political contender Bernie Sanders via the product "Bernie's Back".

Leadership Shifts plus Upcoming Intentions

The founder indicated how he plans to create additional frozen dessert varieties focusing on issues that Ben & Jerry's was silenced from addressing publicly due to Unilever.

This development comes after co-founder Jerry Greenfield resigned his position at Ben & Jerry's in September, following decades of involvement, mentioning concerns that its independence was undermined after Unilever's decision to restrict their advocacy work.

At that time, Mr. Cohen remarked how "Jerry has a really big heart and this conflict with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart compels me to keep working within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that it can achieve its ethical purpose, the values that established its foundation and has maintained for decades," he told journalists.
