Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim endures the stress during the 3-1 loss at Brentford

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot hide from his troubling performance and says it is understandable that Old Trafford icons are questioning him.

Earlier this week, the club's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his show that "the soul has gone" from his old team.

The Portuguese manager has managed just 18 victories from his forty-nine matches in charge, including 9 out of 33 in the English top flight, where he has yet to record back-to-back successive wins.

Despite the fact that senior Old Trafford sources are insistent that the club owner continues to be behind the manager, an inability to beat newly promoted Sunderland on the weekend will ignite fresh rumors about his future heading into the upcoming fortnight pause in domestic football.

"This is understandable," stated the Portuguese manager, when asked about the former striker's remarks. "You can't escape from the outcomes."

"Then you have the history from last season, [although] last season for me is irrelevant."

Supporter Response and Current Circumstances

Manchester United's followers remained behind Amorim following last season's disappointing fare, when they finished fifteenth in the table - their lowest showing since the 1973/74 demotion season - and were beaten in the Europa League final, in the belief that the current campaign would be substantially better.

The manager promised supporters the situation would improve because he had greater opportunity to prepare with his squad without the midweek distraction of European football.

That is not how the first six games have materialised as Manchester United have suffered 3 losses so far and sit fourteenth in the standings.

Coach's Response to Questions

When questioned what assurances he could provide fans that the situation will improve, the manager added: "It's not the time to speak, it is the moment to prove."

"Personally analyze the games this season and, for me, they are entirely varied, but I have little to comment at present."

  • Manchester United currently occupy the fourteenth place in the top flight
  • The manager has won just eighteen of his 49 games in control
  • Wayne Rooney recently questioned the team's current direction
  • Saturday's fixture against their opponents is crucial for the manager's future
